An LPG facility was proposed at a location on the Tamil Nadu coast for handling and storage of refrigerated or pressurized Propane / Butane / LPG. To understand the feasibility of the facility, MDRA estimated the demand for LPG till 2021 in Southern and Central India. A unique methodology was evolved to assess the market feasibility for the proposed LPG import facility. The methodology involved analysis of historic data, discussion with experts and interviews with end users. Different routes were considered for each sector to assess the demand and prepare the energy plan. The information obtained from different sources was pooled together to come up with converging estimates. The estimation of LPG and further preparation of energy plan was done for Domestic, Automotive, Commercial and Industrial sector. For the preparation of the plan, MDRA studied the utilization pattern of the conventional and non-conventional sources of energy in following sectors namely Power, cement, glass, fertilizer, coal, petrochemicals, chemicals, textiles, process industry, road making, etc. MDRA, as scope of the study prepared an energy plan where geographical distribution of LPG was suggested. |

The client wanted to evaluate the potential for setting up fuel retail outlets at 18 locations. This evaluation process basically consisted of two phases: (a) evaluating the potential business volume (b) understanding the consumer behavior. The exercise also aimed at identifying and evaluating travel related value added services that could be offered at the outlets. Non-petroleum products offering at retail outlets are particularly important in today's scenario of stretched profits margins in the petroleum products sales. Non-fuel products have the potential to significantly contribute to the top line as well as bottom line of the retail outlets. The objectives of the study could be broadly defined as following: - To access the potential for selling motor fuels at identified retail outlet locations.
